The Lake District In September

I got a phone call the other day from someone in Malta who wanted to know what it was like in the lake district in November. He was concerned that it would be too cold for his one year old daughter. I told him that it wouldn’t be too cold, but would probably be wet, would certainly get dark early, and that some attractions might have limited opening hours. My recommendation to him was to come to the lakes right now (September). Rainfall is usually low after the traditional August deluge, it is still light until around 7.30 in the evenings, and it’s less crowded with visitors.
