Cancelling Spain

I booked a holiday to Spain six months ago, and was really looking forward to it but I recently lost my job so I’m less enthusiastic. Tying to think of a few ways to keep the cost of the trip down given that my future employment is uncertain. Crazy to not buy travel insurance, but I must say right now that I am tempted not to. Maybe I should cancel the trip entirely. I have looked into this as an alternative, but I won’t get a refund on the flight tickets because they were on special and non-refundable. What to do?
