Is It Possible To Play DVD On Wii

We bought our ten year old son the Nintendo Wii System bundle for his birthday last month. We got the bundle that had the balance board and all of the fitness games included. We thought that this would encourage him to get off of the couch a little bit more. He really loves video games and we were becoming concerned with how much he played them. We have been having a family challenge almost every night with one of the fitness games. My husband heard that it is possible to play DVD on Wii systems. I would like to find out if this is true, and if so, how its done. I would love to be able to get the standard DVD player out of the entertainment center.
