Combined styles

I have a friend that is big on rodeo riding, mostly broncs. He was recently invited to ride in a show. Three other riders and him were selected to horses if the western style. In the contest there were English and Arabian styles also being shown. My friend decided to get a bit creative. He uses English bridles with western saddles. He dressed in new working chaps and an Australian bush hat. He ended up taking second place in the show. We may never know if it was the skills of the horse and rider or if it was the unusual style combinations that impressed the judges.
