The Different Types Of Door Closers
August 21st, 2008 by admin
Door closers are mechanical devices that automatically close the door after someone opens it. There are two common types or styles of door closers; manual and automatic. The manual type comes in two forms, overhead and jamb mounted. The overhead door closer can be concealed or surface mounted while the jamb mounted closers are fitted between the door and the frame and are concealed when the door is closed. Most manual door closers are equipped with hydraulic (oil filled) dampers and spring mechanisms to regulate the speed of the closing door. An automatic door closer or opener is typically controlled by a push button, motion detector or any other remote device. These door closers are generally made to answer the needs of consumers as an additional security feature in their homes and offices.
