Transfer the auto insurance policy on second sales

Stephen brought a second hand car from the market after bargaining with the first owner of the car regarding the price and finally settled for a reasonable price. Stephen called me and informed me about the second hand purchase of his car. Hearing this I immediately asked whether he had changed the Auto Insurance policy of the car for the first owner into his name. He told me that he had not yet transferred the auto insurance policy into his name. That time I reminded him the consequences he has to face legally if he had not transferred auto insurance policies while transacting second sales.
