Popularity of Tattoos.

Why do you think tattoos are so popular? What was it that made tattoos a trend, that made it so popular?
Well,the answer is Circus. Yes, tattoos were popularised by circuses. Well, at least in the late nineteenth century.
The reason is that for circuses used to employ completely tattooed people and they did it for more than 70 years. These tattooed people were sometimes exhibited in side shows and sometimes they did juggling as well as other tricks too.
The circus visitors were amazed by these fully tattooed people and liked the shows so much that rival circuses used to compete to hire tattooed people. It is also said that these tattooed people had circuses as their main sources of income and they used to come upon hard times if the circus employing them, went bankrupt.
As a matter of fact, when the east and west coasts of United States were connected by the railways, the circuses experienced a growth and hired lots of tattooed people and even tattoo artists(who were experts at tattoo designs ) which further popularised tattoos as an art form.
